JACKSON MOUNTAIN HERD
I FOUND A BLOG ON JACKSON MOUNTAIN HERD THAT IS INTERESTING. PALOMINO VALLEY CENTER CLOSURE IN SEP. 2007 DUE TO SALMONELLA BACTERIA FROM 130 JACKSON MOUNTAIN HORSES. TO READ THIS BLOG GO TO AMERICANHERD.BLOGSPOT.COM . ( LOOK AT SEPTEMBER 28 & 29 2007 )THESE HORSES FACED MORE THEN HARD CONDITION WITH LITTLE WATER. AFTER BEING GATHERED SOME BABES WERE SEPARATED FORM THEIR MOTHERS AT A YOUNG AGE TO NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN. NOT ALL BABES SURVIVED.

It was a tragic thing. It sounds like some babies were not able to be matched up, and given the condition of the horses I imagine it was not a gather that could be delayed.
Despite their rough start aren't they just amazing?
